Hanging planters are an interesting way to display plants. There are hundreds of different models, from vertical wall gardens to simple DYIs. We’ve checked available choices and tested many of them and the verdict is:
the VertiPlants are modern, stylish and should be a piece to treasure even long after the hanging planters trend is over.
Avoid buying ‘Sky Planter’ by Boskke, it leaks and the producer does not accept complaints.
The idea of VertiPlants arose in 2012 by the current owners Rikke and Jens Raecke. VertiPlants are made in Denmark, which secures high product quality, they are 100% waterproof to protect the wall, very stylish, eye-catching available in 2 sizes and 8 beautiful colours. VertiPlants can also be used for holding pencils, kitchen tools or as a mini wall- mounted tables covered with matching brass or wooden lids.
We’ve been intrigued by the Boskke’s ‘Sky Planter’ as it definitely is an interesting focal point. Despite the unfavourable reviews on Amazon we’ve decided to order it for our online store and display it in our showroom. Unfortunately, the ‘Sky Planter’ really leaks (see photo) when you fill it up! We placed Sky Planter by the window over the wooden floor and when the plant was being watered, even just a little, the water dripped on the wooden floor causing black spots. We contacted Boskke and their Swiss distributor Dynco and here is the response we received:

Green Atelier: “Our client who purchased the Sky Planter complained that it's dripping. I also placed one planter in the shop and I have the same problem - see photo. Moreover, we received the pots without the water level indicator! Is that a faulty lot?”
Dynco: “I think the reason for this could be the sort of plant and the way it is planted. Speaking from a faulty lot is not correct, there is just the water level indicator that is missing. Except from this they are all identical.”
Boskke: ”I’m sorry your customer has had an issue. Our advice is that unless the reservoir is damaged or loose, such dripping is the usually the result of overwatering - the plant is simply receiving more water than it needs, so it builds up in the soil - and therefore they should simply reduce the frequency / quantity of watering. Different plants and conditions will have varying needs and the customer should monitor this as they would in a normal planter. “
Well, 'normal planter' does not leak… And missing key feature such as water level indicator is not acceptable… Consequently, we decided to remove ‘Sky Planter’ from our online store due to its poor quality.
